The outside of a building is the first thing anyone sees. Painting it is one way to put that face right, and it is harder than it looks. Danyal Painting has more than ten years on exteriors, with a crew and paint chosen so the building still looks finished after a winter.
Before any colour goes on, the question is why the surface failed. Settlement cracks are a building problem, not a paint problem. Those need a technical look first.
What the paint has to do
Exteriors can take matte or gloss oil, plastic, multi-colour, acrylic, patina or white. The coating has to:
- Hold up to weather
- Resist sunlight
- Be washable
- Not hold dust
- Be non-flammable
- Stay elastic enough for expansion, contraction and minor movement, so the facade does not spider-crack
Standard acrylics suit cement and brick. Oil paints suit metal. The colour range is wide, and computer-matched colour means later stages do not drift from the first pail.
